Somnopole

So far, sleep disturbances remain among the most common complaints with regard to health and well-being in extreme environments, especially so in polar regions. This study aims at deducing the potential mechanism behind those disturbances. Furthermore, and for the first time, apart from the fundamental research regarding sleep disturbances, this project also includes an operational part, where two countermeasures are investigated.

SIMSKILL

The aim of the SIMSKILL project is to develop an adequate prediction theory on how the skills for tasks that are carried out infrequently during space mission degrade over time by measuring performance in an ecologically valid environment and with a task set embracing its multimodal nature.

CIRCAFLEX

The aim of the CIRCAFLEX project is to investigate the influence of endogenous circadian flexibility on sleepiness, fatigue, cognitive function, endocrine, autonomic and emotional regulation after acute sleep deprivation (30hrs) and daytime sleep recovery (4hrs).
